Tutor Position

POSITION: Tutor

REPORTS TO: Senior Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction

COMPENSATION: $40/hour + performance-based incentive plan

CONTRACT PERIOD: As needed

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide One-on-One or Small Group Instruction: Assist students with understanding and mastering core subjects like math, reading, and writing.
• Develop Customized Lesson Plans: Tailor instruction to meet the individual learning needs and styles of each student.
• Assess Student Progress: Monitor and track student performance through assessments and feedback.
• Reinforce Classroom Learning: Support students by reviewing and explaining schoolwork assigned by their teachers.
• Encourage Positive Learning Habits: Help students develop effective study habits, time management, and critical thinking skills.
• Communicate with Parents and Teachers: Provide regular updates on student progress and areas that need improvement.
• Create a Supportive Learning Environment: Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere to encourage student confidence and participation.
• Utilize Various Teaching Methods: Adapt teaching strategies to fit different learning styles and academic levels.
• Provide Homework Assistance: Guide students in completing assignments while ensuring they understand the material.
• Prepare Educational Materials: Develop worksheets, practice exercises, and activities to supplement learning.
• Address Learning Challenges: Identify and assist students who may be struggling with specific academic concepts.
• Promote a Growth Mindset: Encourage students to persist through challenges and view mistakes as learning opportunities.
• Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure that student information and progress reports remain private and secure.
• Follow School Policies and Procedures: Adhere to guidelines and expectations set by the school or tutoring program.
• Stay Updated on Educational Best Practices: Continue learning about new teaching techniques, curriculum changes, and student engagement strategies.
